This year, we continued our net zero journey with energy reductions across the portfolio, whilst setting the foundation for future conversations with our occupiers through aligning our leases with our net zero ambitions and also working with our consultants to enhance our base build brief for our development pipeline. We are closer than we have ever been to becoming a clean energy supplier through our solar park in Scotland, and we are working closely with our supply chain to advance our understanding of embodied carbon, particularly in building services, to investigate how we can reduce this.
Following on from the update to our climate change risk assessment carried out this year, and as signatories to the Better Buildings Partnership (BBP) Climate Change Commitment, we align with their definition of climate change adaptation, and will be putting together a climate change adaptation plan this year.
Collaboration is key and the real estate industry recognises it needs to work together to succeed in our collective goals, and so we are sharing our insights through signing up to the British Property Foundation’s Net Zero Pledge and Westminster City Council’s Sustainable City Charter. Read on for our latest progress across our four core actions on our Net Zero Carbon pathway.
